Teachers will inevitably sometimes feel paper thin as a result of all the demands on our energy and time. Assessing, planning, doing and reviewing what our SEND pupils need might get swamped by data drops, dashboards, deep dives etc. However, dig deep and remember that there’s a spark in you which can shine in the lives of those pupils. Teachers are original and cannot be replaced!

Teaching should and must be a collaboration. TAs, teachers, SENCOs, senior leaders, parents, agencies and the entire community need to play their part and work together to ensure all needs are met because we make each other strong. When you need support, reach out!

Each teacher and each pupil is their own special creation, so let’s not hide, but take pride in our difference. Gloria suggests we see things from a different angle, great advice when thinking about how to meet pupil needs, take risks and try new ideas. Sometimes your ideas will be aces, but embrace failures as lessons learned. What more could a teacher of pupils with SEND wish for, than for them to say, “I am powerful, I belong”
