Welcome to our brand new cohort of trainees (25-26)! It has been a busy start to the Autumn term so far! Since starting their teacher training with KNSTE, there has been so much taking place in our SCITT sessions at our learning hub and also in our placement schools on placement days.

The first day of the academic year for our trainees began on 29th August. KNSTE trainees have key sessions including the welcome session, safeguarding training and a group tutorial with their Lead Mentor. Those on the part time course also have their 'Welcome Back' session. This ensures all trainees can begin their placement right from the first day of the new year in September. Throughout the course, we pride ourselves on additional certification and training including CAMHS, Attachment Training, Speech, Language and Communication and Philosophy for Children (P4C).

Trainees then come back to SCITT sessions for a two week intensive block. During this time our Teaching Tutors and Lead Mentors facilitate sessions including ITAPs, Early Tears, Ethical Professionalism and DEI, Oracy and also lesson planning. At the end of the first week, it was time for our first specialism day! At KNSTE, we are delighted to offer not only a programme to train you to become a General Primary Practitioner, but also to gain an additional Specialism certificate. KNSTE offer specialisms across all routes and more information about these specialisms can be found here.

In addition to this, within the 'SCITT fortnight', General Mentors attended the General Mentor training located at the Shaw Education Trust conference suite. We would like to extend our thanks to all placement schools who are hosting KNSTE trainee teachers for their placement 1 and for all the support, training and mentoring that takes place on placement.

Following this, trainees (on the full time course) settle into the routine of attending placement schools Monday - Wednesday and join us at the learning hub on Thursdays and Fridays. Our part time trainees follow a similar pattern, depending on the scheduling of the placement blocks.

We are so excited to see what this academic year brings for our 25-26 cohort of trainees. We cannot wait to see the learning, teaching and development that is going to take place. Stay tuned later in the year for an update on what our trainees have been up to throughout their time with us so far and some of the activities they have completed on the course.
